Michael C. Smatt, D.C., F.I.C.A.


Dr. Michael C. Smatt, Director of Smatt Family Chiropractic has been in private practice since 1980. Since 1980, Dr. Smatt opened several offices over the years including Madison Avenue, The Plaza Hotel, Southampton, Wall Street and Pleasantville, NY.   A graduate of New York Chiropractic College, Diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Legislative Advisor to the New York Chiropractic Council, Officer and Director of the Political Action Committee, Member of the Legislative Committee of the International Chiropractors Association, Received the Beacon Award, naming him Chiropractor of the Year 1997-1998, Received the Assemblyman Peter Mirto Award in 1998 for his legislative victories, Elected a Distinguished Fellow of the International Chiropractors Association 1999, and was honored by Governor George E. Pataki in September, 1999. Dr. Smatt was featured on Woman's Day Television with his patient, Former Miss America, Phyllis George, in a segment discussing the benefits of chiropractic healthcare. Dr. Smatt was also featured on the cover of Today's Chiropractic Magazine and on the cover of Hooked on Health Magazine, the cover of the Enquirer Magazine with his patients, Donald Trump, Marla Maples Trump, Tiffany Trump and later with Gloria Steinum. Dr. Smatt was instrumental in the passage and enforcement of the Insurance Equality Law in 1997 which requires insurance companies to provide coverage for Chiropractic care. Dr. Smatt was presented with the pen used to sign this bill into law by Governor Pataki. Dr. Smatt was also appointed by Commissioner Charles A. Gargano the Official Chiropractor and provided a team of Chiropractors to serve at the Goodwill Games 2000 which took place in Lake Placid, N.Y., February, 2000.  Dr. Smatt was also honored by the N.Y. Chiropractic Council for his contributions at Ground Zero after 911 in November, 2002. Several sites were set up at Ground Zero to provide Chiropractic Care to police, firefighters and rescue workers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for one full year. Dr. Smatt organized access to these sites with the N.Y. Chiropractic Council, FEMA and the Red Cross.  Received Lifetime Membership to International Chiropractors Association, September, 2005. Received the prestigious B.J Palmer Award of Excellence from the Connecticut Chiropractic Council, September, 2005. Dr. Smatt was apointed to the Advisory Board, October, 2004, to Healthcorps, Founder Dr. Mehmet Oz. Dr. Smatt authored the chiropractic portion of the curriculum for Healthcorps, which already impacted over 3 million teens emphasizing diet, exercise, fitness including chiropractic and mental resilience. Dr. Smatt received the Crystal Heart Award from Dr. Mehmet Oz at the Healthcorps Gala April 2015. Dr. Smatt also appeared on the  Dr. Oz Show on June 8th, 20015 discussing why Chiropractic Adjustments are so important to make part of your lifestyle.  Dr. Smatt was honored by Today's Chiropractic Leadership as one of the Mavericks, Geniuses and Icons changing the world for the better, December 2015.  Dr. Smatt was appointed as Co-Chairman to the Healthcorps Advisory Board by Dr. Mehmet Oz, April 2016.  Dr. Smatt appeared again on the Dr. Oz Show on April 28, 2020. On the show, Dr. Oz shares with millions of viewers his miraculous healing from receiving Chiropractic Adjustments from Dr. Smatt.  Dr. Smatt was appointed Chairman of the Curriculum/Health Advisor Committee for Healthcorps, July 2020. Dr. Smatt appeared on television with Brian Clement and the Hippocrites Health Institute, Palm Beach, Fla., October, 2020. Dr. Smatt also appeared on The Dr. Oz Show on December 21, 2021 on a segment on Chronic Low Back Pain. Dr. Oz shares his experience with Chiropractic Care from Dr. Smatt.
